About this case

Crilke came out of her adolescence with a pronounced pseudo-prognathism. More than overgrowth of the mandible, the upper jaw did not grow or develop at all. After wisdom teeth removal and pre-surgical orthodontics, Crilke had her rewarding orthognathic surgery by Dr Defrancq: a most substantial upper jaw with advancement and extrusion was performed followed by a moderate setback of the mandible. For the aesthetic flow of the face it was judged mandatory to augment the cheekbones in a most natural way with hydroxyapatite and human glue (tisseel or tissucol). Crilke was extremely pleased by the functional and aesthetic outcome. It boosted her young life with comfort and confidence.
